Nous avons décidé de créer une page dédiée pour les interviews afin de vous faire découvrir plein de beau monde. Ce mois-ci, j’ai décidé de mettre en avant sur le blog une cosplayeuse. Je vous présente Ezysummers Cosplay.
Ezysummers Can you introduce yourself to our readers to know a little bit more about you?
Hello there! I’m EzySummers, and I’m a full-time cosplayer. I’m a Bulgarian cosplayer with more than 10 years of experience in the community!
Until recently, I’ve been mostly known locally, but for about 2 years, I’ve been doing cosplay more professionally.
I’ve been to many local and some international conventions, and I’d like to visit more of them!
Many people recognize me for my Panam Palmer and Triss Merigold cosplays.
Since when are you engaging in cosplay ?
My cosplay journey began around 2009, when I was obsessed with Tomb Raider. Back then, I didn’t know about the cosplay world, but I was very excited when I got introduced to it alongside anime and Japanese culture.
Why did you start doing cosplay?
I really wanted to look like my favorite character, Lara Croft. In the beginning, I only did make-up and funny photoshoots at home, but then I asked my mom to help me make a real costume! It was an amazing feeling to see myself in the skin of my idol!
What is your favorite costume ?
So far, I’m very proud of 3 of the costumes that I’ve made, which were a bit more complicated: Triss Merigold (it was actually really fun to do all the details), Panam Palmer (her jacket was really difficult because, after all, I’m not a professional tailor), and Rhaenyra Targaryen (her dress had so many details!).
Are you also playing video games ?
Yes! Maybe not, as Yes! Maybe not as much as I want to these days, but I started playing at a very young age, thanks to my father. much as I want to these days, but I started playing at a very young age, thanks to my father.
What is your favorite video game?
I have a lot of favorite games, but let’s start with the old ones. Point-and-click adventures like Grim Fandango and Syberia are dear to my heart. For a long time, I played League of Legends but stopped as it was time-consuming and I wanted to focus more on my career. Now I play mostly single-player games such as Horizon, God of War, Until Dawn, The Last of Us, Cyberpunk 2077, and so on.
Did you participate in a lot of events?
In the past, yes, but after COVID, I mostly did online content. Now I’m slowly getting back to the stage. I’m fortunate to be invited to foreign events too! Such as Kyrenia Geek Fest and Zurich Popcon!
Can you tell us a secret? What is your next cosplay?
My next full-on big cosplay is going to be Freya from GOW. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it soon and show it at some conventions!
Are you going to do national and international competitions?
I have only competed locally, but I would like to try to do so internationally someday soon and meet more great cosplayers!
At what step, your cosplay brings you joy? (creation / competition /convention…)
Mostly creation and seeing the finished product. As an artist, this brings me the most joy. Conventions are fun to meet old friends and take photos with some lovely people. Lately, I’ve been going to local conventions just for fun, without competing, and I just love it that way.
Where do you find your inspiration for your cosplay? And how do you make the decision to do it?
First, if I really fall in love with some character, either visually or in personality, then it’s a must! My second source of inspiration comes from other cosplayers. If their craft and presentation are admirable, then even if I don’t know the character, I’ll look it up and get inspired to do it.
What part of cosplay you don’t like to do?
Fixing mistakes or redoing parts! Sometimes I don’t understand how sewing patterns work, and it drives me crazy, but the worst is that you have to almost complete something to see your mistakes. This part is frustrating, but it’s a learning process, so… I see the positives in that too.
What cosplay do you dream of doing?
I really want to do Triss Merigold’s alternative look from The Witcher 3 and Sarah Kerrigan’s zerg form, but the last one is really ambitious!
What is your best and the worst memory of convention?
My best memories are when I’m in a group cosplay, and then I can enjoy the events even more! Having buddies to interact with and stay in character with is fun!
My worst memory is being at a summer event without ventilation.
A last word?
Stay positive and try new hobbies to enjoy life even more!
