Nous avons décidé de créer une page dédiée pour les interviews afin de vous faire découvrir plein de beau monde. Ce mois-ci, j’ai décidé de mettre en avant sur le blog une cosplayeuse. Je vous présente Ivy Cosplay.
Ivy ,Can you introduce yourself to our readers to know a little bit more about you?
Ivy Cosplay, originally from Puerto Rico and currently, a resident of Florida, began cosplaying in 2010. Her first cosplay was of Lara Croft in a photoshoot directed by her husband, Michael of MC Illusion Photography, who she assists in his work. Ivy’s first public appearance in cosplay was during Star Wars Celebration VI, where she appeared as Princess Leia during the convention, sparking her love for the cosplaying community thanks to their acceptance of her.
She has appeared in various magazine photoshoots for COSPLAYology, Cosplayzine, as well as Surreal Beauty Magazine and has appeared on different comic covers including the covers of Vengeance of Vampirella, and Vampire Bloodlines.
As part of her ongoing cosplaying, she has been a guest at a number of conventions nationwide.
Ivy has cosplayed more than 100 characters from various movies and comic books as well as a number of original characters. Her favorite cosplays are of Catwoman, Wonder Woman, and Lara Croft.
Ivy creates her own unique costume designs, making them herself by hand. Costume design is her passion. She enjoys cosplaying because it brings happiness to her and other people and allows her to meet people from all over the world.
Since when have you been engaging in cosplay?
I started cosplaying in 2010.
Why did you start doing cosplay?
I have always liked dressing up, but when I went to a convention dressed as Princess Leia, I had so much fun that I decided to start cosplaying more characters.
What is your favorite costume?
One of my favorite cosplays is Wonder Woman. I have three versions of Wonder Woman. (the original Lynda Carter, the one from Batman Vs Superman and the Ame-Comic version) I made all three.
Are you also playing video games?
I am not that much of a video game player.
What is your favorite video game?
I will say it is Tomb Raider from when I played.
Did you participate in a lot of events?
I am a cosplayer guest at multiple conventions a year. I model for painting in various events, and I judge several costume contests during the year.
Can you tell us a secret, what is you next cosplay?
I am working on the Sorceress from The Master of the Universe cartoons (He-Man). I am also trying to come up with ideas for characters from horror movies or games to cosplay for a convention next year.
Are you going to do national and international competitions?
I don’t compete in costume contests anymore.
At what step does your cosplay bring you joy? (creation/competition/ convention…)
I enjoy everything about cosplay: the research, the creation, wearing it, and interacting with other people.
Where do you find your inspiration for your cosplay? And how do decide to do it?
The inspirations come from everywhere, from artworks to movies, cartoons, comic books, video games, and recommendations. I usually start with the easy ones and continue with the more difficult ones. Some costumes take me years to complete because I keep leaving them behind while doing easy ones.
What part of cosplay you don’t like to do?
I’m not too fond of spray painting the props. Usually, my husband helps me with that. I do the weathering of the props.
What cosplay do you dream of doing?
Wonder Woman Golden Costume with the wings from the movie.
What is your best and worst memory of convention?
Every convention is special to me. I like meeting with friends, having fun, and sharing my knowledge with other people. I can’t think of any bad experiences from conventions yet.
A last word?
For everyone cosplaying out there, from beginners to experts, please support each other. Cosplay is for fun.
